Communication: One Key to Successful Supervision

Successful team management in a laboratory or other research setting requires strong leadership skills. Workshop facilitators Angela Foster and Wayne Stahl, from University Human Resources, will present communication techniques that postdocs can use to more effectively lead research teams.

Workshop objectives include:

  • Identification of participants’ personal strengths.
  • Articulation of the role of trust in communication.
  • Discussion of various communication styles and their differences.
  • Presentation of effective communication tools and strategies.

This event is offered at no cost to postdoctoral scholars. However, participants are expected to complete a self-assessment by StrengthsQuest™ before the event and to bring the results of their self-assessment to the workshop on Dec. 16. The fee for the assessment will be paid by the Postdoctoral Affairs Office. See registration form for details.

Registration and self-assessment must be completed no later than December 12.
